New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Parsons The New School for Design presents the second annual Fashion Campus NYC. Fashion Campus NYC is one of six fashion industry-focused initiatives announced in November 2010 by NYC Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg as part of NYC's push to help build on its competitive advantages and enhance its status as a global fashion capital. Fashion Campus NYC is specifically designed to expose student interns to the variety of business careers available to them within NYC's fashion industry.
The weekend kicks off with a greeting from Euan Robertson, Managing Director of the Center for Economic Transformation at the NYCEDC, followed by remarks and an introduction by Parsons Executive Dean Joel Towers. Simon Collins, Dean of the School of Fashion at Parsons, moderates "Backstage Pass" a panel discussion among fashion professionals who have experience in the finance, sales, production, merchandising, marketing and buying areas of the industry. The panelists provide insights into how they got started, their day-to-day roles, the key qualifications for their jobs and how interns and new hires can stand out and get noticed.
